D.I.Y. Headboard

Fabric Covered Headboard

This past summer I decided that I needed to redo my room - big time. But of course, I am a college student who honestly finds it more excited to get good deals/finds than just break down and spend the money.  So my wonderful mother and I decided we would make our own headboard, with the help of my best friend Molly :) So here we go!

Materials:
Ply Wood (cut to the size you want your headboard to be)
(dont forget about the length of the legs)
Batting
Fabric
Staples
Staple Gun
Scissors

Once you get your ply wood (from Lowes, Home Depot, or your local handy-man store) - Saw it to the shape you want. I personally decided to have the edges curved at the top. The legs of the headboard ended up being around 3 inches wide and a foot long.

So that your head is not resting on a nice hard piece of ply wood, wrap the wood in batting (fluffy stuff - bought at craft stores). Wrap the batting all the way around the edges of the wood and staple with a staple gun to keep it in place.

Measure out your fabric to make sure you can cover the headboard. Be sure to leave a little extra to cover the legs. Wrap the fabric around the headboard, similar to how you did the batting and staple to the back of the headboard with the staple gun. Make sure you pull the fabric tight so that it is not loose.

The corners can be kind of tricky but I would just keep working with folds to try to make it look as clean as possible and staple it down.

The wonderful thing about this headboard is that you can keep covering it in fabric, over and over again! All you need is the staples, staple gun and more fabric!

Hope you all enjoyed!
Have a great Friday :)
