D.I.Y. Bow Ties

While I was home over our mini Spring at the beginning of March, I of course had to visit my favorite thrift store. Well, while I was there, I found these fabric napkins for $0.50 so my mind went crazy trying to think of some crafty thing to do with them.  When I brought them home, I showed my mom and told her I was sure I would find something to make out of them, just like the tons of other things I have brought home to be potential crafts :)

Well, I finally figured out what to do with these napkins...
bow ties! Which could be worn as an actual bow tie or just a bow :)
Enjoy this cute D.I.Y.

Red Bow.

Blue bow.

Materials:
Scissors,
Fabric
Super glue or Hot glue
Iron
Clip
Hairspray

Take the fabric and cut it into a square. The bigger the square the bigger the bow! Also cut a strip to be in the center of your bow. To hide any ugly edges, iron all 4 sides of both the square and the strip to create clean lines.

Next comes the fun part! Lay out your square flat and simply pinch the middle as seen above! Now you can fool with the pleats and find the shape you want. Feel free to glue the middle together because you will be covering it with the strip of fabric we cut earlier anyways.

Next take the strip and wrap it around the middle of your bow and glue the end in the back of the bow where no one will see it. Almost done :) Then, so that your bow isn't floppy, you can take and kind of fabric stiffening spray (but I just used hairspray). Let it dry and apply a clip to the back.

Tada! An adorable bow tie or bow.

The end.
