Shutter Organizer
This is a super easy craft that has so much character and is very useful. It would be silly if you didn't go out and try this with old shutters or shutters from a thrift store because it is so easy :) so this is one that is definitely worth your time!
Shutters $2.50 each
Paint color of your choice!
$3
Paint can be very expensive, so I would recommend you find some at a building source thrift store like Habitat for Humanity or even go to a regular paint store and ask for "mess-up" paint that they mixed wrong.
This shutter was painted with 2 coats of paint to create a solid light coral color.
Once painted be sure that the shutters are closed so that you can use the slots as storage (see picture below). I would recommend that you use hot glue or liquid nails to keep the shutters shut.
To hang the shutters on the wall, the method you use will depend on the type of shutters. The one below is screwed into the wall with screws with a white tip to keep it looking uniform and cute.
This is an example of one that my sister, Shannon, and I did in her laundry room last fall. These are smaller shutters that we placed right next to each other and painted an egg shell blue. It is a great place to keep invitations, pictures, letters, or bills.
The end!
that is such a good idea to put pictures in it! just found your blog and i love all your DIYs, i'm definitely following x\
